Lear's leather goes couture

Automotive supplier Lear Corp. is hoping the fusion of fashion sensibilities into its new line of premium automotive leathers leads to the next stage of growth as it targets the luxury vehicle segment.
The $2.5 billion company based in Southfield [NYSE:LEA] held a fashion event Nov. 7 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit to unveil its Aventino Collection. It included a fashion show in which runway models displayed clothing garments assembled with swatches of the new leather products.

From seats to runway, Lear struts out new line of leather fabrics

Lear Corp. stepped outside its comfort zone last Wednesday when it hosted a leather fashion show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Design in Detroit.
Male and female models wearing leather outfits inspired by Lear's leather fabrics and colors were used to unveil Aventino, a new line of leather seat fabrics from Lear.

Those are just a couple of the adventurous ideas from Southfield-based Lear Corp., which is pitching fashion-inspired themes including bold colors, quilted seats and even seats adorned with metal studs.

Lear Corp. says its new Aventino line of leather seats allows for greater customization and unique features. The material starts with a raw “hide” and uses a vertically integrated process that allows a broad range of color and surface treatments – ranging from a basket weave effect to quilting and graining techniques.
